Hereunder follows examples of some of the itineraries that we can offer – again a reminder that we will tailor-make any tour to suit you, whether it is fully guided, partially guided, a self-drive or just staying at one of the many golfing estates, we will do it all for you. These below are just a sample of what can be done and to give you some idea of what’s on offer and possible. Remember, these are just examples, we will tailor make any tour to suit you.
Tour Example: 10-Day Johannesburg & Wildlife
Day 1
On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport you will be met and transferred to your overnight accommodation in the northern area of Johannesburg. En route you will have a short orientation tour of this city. Here there are any number of accommodation options to choose from, from hotels, boutique hotels, guest houses and bed & breakfast establishments. This city is the heartbeat of the country. It's the economic and cultural centre of South Africa, where people work hard and play harder.
Everyone is on the move, from doing business to hitting the city's nightspots until late. Johannesburg is a dynamic cosmopolitan city with great places to eat, interesting sites to visit and a good range of places to stay.
Day 2
Play golf this morning at the Houghton, Royal Johannesburg or Wanderers Courses. The remainder of the day is at leisure. You may want to do a guided tour of Soweto, the Apartheid Museum or Gold Reef City or just some shopping at the many and varied venues in Johannesburg.
Day 3
Today we travel through Highveld industrial, mining and agricultural areas. Our guide will make this section interesting, adding value with his interpretation of the local history and sights. The scenery is pretty flat but this changes as we approach the Drakensberg Escarpment where we drop down to the Lowveld through scenic passes. This Drakensberg Escarpment area is really beautiful and has scenic vistas over the Lowveld of the Kruger National Park. We will visit the Panorama Escarpment and some of the view-sites such as God’s Window, Blyde River Canyon, Berlin and Lisbon Waterfalls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, etc. and overnight at Hannah Lodge (or at whichever accommodation option you desire).
Day 4
This morning we depart for the Hans Merensky Country Estate in Phalaborwa.
Play golf this afternoon at Hans Merensky Course.
Another fine course where the main attraction is the visiting wildlife - the course borders the Kruger National Park and many of the Park's inhabitants pay scant regarding the fencing, which is an unusual benefit to enjoying the round!
Day 5
Check out of The Hans Merensky Country Estate and transfer to one of the luxury private game lodges in the Sabi Sands or Timbavati Private Game Reserve for your Big 5 safari experience.
Day 6
These lodges are in one of the richest wildlife regions on the continent, which provides a game-viewing experience amongst the best in Africa. Wildlife to be seen is lion, leopard, black and white rhino, buffalo, large herds of elephant and the elusive wild dog. At dusk and dawn, guests are taken on game drives in open 4 x 4 safari vehicles by skilled, professional rangers and trackers for a journey of discovery and excitement. For those wanting closer contact with the African wilderness, armed rangers lead guests on interactive bush walks which allow fascinating insights into the landscape, animal tracks and an intriguing host of beetles, butterflies and birds.
Day 7
This morning after our game drive and breakfast we depart for any one of the magnificent private “concession” lodge within the Kruger National Park or for one of the public camps in the Kruger Park. A full day safari with game rangers of the private lodge or alternatively with your guide who had collected you in Johannesburg if in the public camps, is planned for today. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this national park of nearly 2 million hectares, is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies.
Truly the flagship of the South African national parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. Man's interaction with the Lowveld environment over many centuries - from bushman rock paintings to majestic archaeological sites like Masorini and Thulamela - is very evident in the Kruger National Park. These treasures represent the cultures, persons and events that played a role in the history of the Kruger National Park and are conserved along with the park's natural assets.
Day 8
Play golf today at Leopard Creek*, White River, Sabie River, Skukuza Courses.
(*Please note that it is only possible to play at Leopard Creek when one is staying at their approved accommodation partners at the selected private lodges within the Kruger Park, the Sabie Sands or Mpumalanga Lowveld area).
Day 9
Play golf today at Skukuza Course inside the Kruger Park.
The remainder of the day will be spent on game drives in the Park.
Day 10
Check out after breakfast and travel to O R Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) or to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for your onward flight.
MORE: You may want to add onto this tour and play golf in Pretoria and/or Sun City, as described elsewhere in this site.
